April was supposed to be my quiet month but things did not go as planned. Well actually they were things that were planned in but seemed to expand to fit the space. As someone did say "enjoy your unstructured time" which is actually what it was rather than time off.
I have really enjoyed planning workshops for the next season. In fact the plans seemed to come together as the days got longer and the tree outside my window unfurled both leaves and blossom to the world. Spring the time of unfurling of both nature and my workshop plans. Ok so not quite so romantically sounding as leaves and blossoms. But then that is what the fun thing of writing it. We do not need to put together things as they ought. We have the privilege of playing with thoughts and ideas.
Here's a writing idea that is fun
Take a regular idea - like leaves and blossoms unfurling in the spring - and personalise it. So for me it was my ideas unfurling as the days lengthened. How about a job idea? This works great if you are wanting to change career or look at your life differently. So instead of worrying look at yourself as furling as the days get longer, or of being rocked by waves in a storm. Give it a try.
It is a good idea to take the idea from nature and then set a timer for 10 mins and just get writing. Don't analyse as you write but just let it flow. Then go back and read it afterwards.
So what has my furling brought me?
Three workshops for this new season, all of which I'm very excited about and am looking forward to starting.
As you can see for the Gwrych Writing Workshops I have said that it is ok for under 18's to come. The reason they have to be accompanied by an adult is firstly to do with child protection issues. The other is that, as an ex-home educator, that it is great to see young people and parents learning and exploring together. I believe it builds bonds but also helps both parent and child see how similar and how different they are.
