This is a picture taken from a writing walk I went on. It is a big hill just behind my house. Every so often I take the dog and camera out and we walk and I take photos. Often we go somewhere different, though sometimes it is somewhere we know well. When I get back I download the photos and decide what to do with them. Some I write about. Some I put on blog posts like this or on my other sites https://aspirationaladventures.wordpress.com/ on WordPress or on Medium https://medium.com/@barefootatthekitchentable (I wish I could leave how to do links on this site!!!)
Today I have written two post on WordPress, one which I have published now and one that is saved for another day, and have written one to go on the Gwrych Trust website, which will be published soon. So with this one as well that will be four posts. But if I am not careful I will finish up beating myself up that I have "not written today". By this I actually mean I have not written anything for my writing project I am working on and being mentored on.
I often struggle to do writing exercises but I don't count them as "proper writing" by which again I mean this project I want to write. I shared the bit about the writing walk because that is me looking for inspiration and to enjoy creativity in another medium. It is me still be creative, still writing and yet if it is not on "the project" then I finish the day feeling bad.
This project also needs a lot of reading to go with is - which all good writing needs. But this one needs some research too. I have just discovered https://www.historyhit.com/ which I shall enrol in next month when the Christmas cash crisis is over. I will then have to be kind to myself when I spend time watching these programmes which will help with "the project" even though I will not be writing it.
So yes I must keep going with this amazing writing project that I have but I must also remember that so much more goes into it than actually the writing and editing part. So I am writing this to say be kind to yourself if you are spending time reading or walking or doing writing exercises or blog post. Remember this is all part of honing your craft and keeping on writing :)
